October magic on the Plateau - don't miss Kathleen Edwards!

Some songwriters tell you a story. Kathleen Edwards tells you the truth, usually with a wry smile and a guitar hook you'll be humming on the drive home.

On Thursday, October 22, Rock the Plateau welcomes Kathleen Edwards to the Salon Series at Highlander Mountain House for a night in one of the most intimate listening rooms in the Southeast.

Edwards arrived in 2003 with Failer, a debut that put her among the sharpest voices in Americana. The albums that followed, Back to Me, Asking for Flowers, and Voyageur, cemented her reputation for songs that are funny, unsparing, and deeply human. Then she famously stepped away from music to open a coffee shop outside Ottawa called Quitters.

Her return with Total Freedom in 2020 and her latest album, Billionaire, produced by Jason Isbell and Gena Johnson, has shown a writer at the height of her powers.

Artists like this usually play much bigger rooms. At the Salon Series, you'll hear her from a few feet away, with about 100 fellow music lovers and no bad seat in the house.
